Paramount Schools of Excellence, a Charter School Network in Indiana was facing a common data challenge: they did not have a simple and fast way to view key performance metrics across their 8 schools. Data at Paramount is located in multiple platforms and spreadsheets, requiring their team to sift through the different systems to get the analyses they needed. Overall, they had a strong sense of the metrics they wanted to measure, but no way to centralize the analyses in an accessible format.

Simplicity worked with members of Paramount’s executive team to develop a data dashboard in Looker Studio (Google’s free Business Intelligence tool). Since the dashboard platform is a Google product, it was free and easily accessible for the Paramount team since they were already familiar with Google products (e.g. gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets). The Paramount team had a very clear vision of the metrics they wanted to track to get a holistic understanding of how their schools were doing. The analyses included student attendance, state assessment performance, staff retention, and financial measures. Simplicity gained access to all of their platforms and created a simple system to combine these metrics into a custom dashboard. During the design of the dashboard, Simplicity met frequently with Paramount to receive feedback and ensure the analyses were understandable to all stakeholders. 

Once the dashboard was complete, Simplicity trained their team members on how to independently update the dashboard (very minimal technical skills were required)! Simplicity created step-by-step directions on how to pull the data from their systems, as well as videos that walked them through the process of updating the dashboard and using the dashboard to pull out key insights. 

All in all, the data dashboard allowed Paramount to quickly understand the state of their schools, make data-informed decisions, and drive action.
